Biking Path and Bike Trails
Biking is a popular sport that Southern Utah gladly accommodates. Red Canyon has a bike path that will delight everyone from novice rider to expert. This paved path has eye popping scenery as towering red cliffs are visible at almost every turn. Forested lands add a touch of green to the pink claron cliffs of Red Canyon. Stop in at the Red Canyon Visitor Center to learn about the ranger interpretive programs they offer. Red Canyon is a wonder of geology, history, fauna and flora including seven species of flowers that are not found anywhere else on the planet.

Trails open to Mountain Bikes
Losee Canyon Trail
This 2.9 mile moderate trail begins at the bottom of losee canyon. This trail connects with the Cassidy trail.
Cassidy Trail
This 8.9 mile strenuous trail is named from the infamous Butch Cassidy who used sections of the trail.
Thunder Mountain Trail
This 7.8 mile moderate to strenuous trail. The red rocks on the lower section of the trail are outstanding.
Casto Canyon Trail
This 5.5 mile trail offers spectacular scenery. |
Red Canyon's Bicycle Trail
A beautiful bicycle path runs 5 miles along Scenic Byway 12. Bike through the towering pines and red rocks of this beautiful Utah recreation area. The paved bike trail runs from the Thunder Mountain Trailhead to Coyote Hollow Road. The elevation along the trail is approximately 7,200 to 8,000 feet. Besides the Paved bike trails in Red canyon, there are 34 miles of mountain bike trails.

Nature Notes The Colorado Plateau is huge, consisting of Southern Utah, Northern Arizona, Northwest New Mexico and Southwest Colorado. You will hear the term Colorado Plateau as you visit Southern Utah and Northern Arizona. The Paunsaugunt and the younger Markagunt Plateaus are the high plateaus. Red Canyon borders the sedimentary rock of the Paunsaugunt Plateau on the north.
