Along the vast Arizona Strip, the Kaibab Plateau rises to over 9,000 ft.  The plateau is isolated in the high country.  Its remote location keeps this section of the Grand Canyon pristine and beautiful. 
Directions: From Flagstaff:  Take US 89 and US 89A north from Flagstaff.  On top of the Kaibab Plateau turn south on AZ 67. 
Directions from Southern Utah: Take US 89 past Kanab, to AZ 89A. Follow AZ 89A to AZ 67.  Turn south of AZ 67.
From Jacobs Lake: This intersection is the Jacob Lake area and the Kaibab Visitors Center is located here. The 43 mile trip through the Kaibab Forest is beautiful.  AZ 67 is usually only open from Mid-may until the first large snow forces its closure in the winter.  Services at the North Rim close down in mid-October, but trails remain open and access is allowed as long as AZ 67 is open.
